Imagine a life of no worries, a life of no tensions. Imagine a life where from the day you were born, you didn’t have to worry about anything – no worries about food, no worries about clothing or shelter or money or education nothing – ever. Imagine, from the day you were born, you were fed adequately, taken care of, provided with shelter and clothing, forever. How would that life be? Wouldn’t it be amazing? You would have all the time and energies you require to fulfill your pleasures for you wouldn’t get caught up and lost in the mundane tasks of survival.
Now imagine a second scenario – you’re born free, but you have to take care of yourself, you have to earn your food, clothing and shelter, you have to get some form education whether you want to or not. How would this second scenario be? This second scenario, as you all know is called life.
Now would you like to jump from the second scenario to the first? Do you think you might enjoy the first scenario – you anything if and only if you want to? What if someone offered you that kind of life but asked just one thing in return – half of your life. Let us say you have a life-span of 80 years and if you were given an option of going to the first scenario, if you agree to die at a tender age of 40. Would you agree? Most of us would.
So what do you think an average animal would choose? A long life of hustle or a short life of comfort – being bred in an environment where he’s not required to hunt to get his food, nor is he required to search of shelters and hence has no worries? I hope when a human of relatively higher IQ would choose the first scenario why wouldn’t an animal do the same.
Now think about the larger picture, how we altruistic meat-eating humans have been doing what is right for them animals – giving them a life of comfort (though short) and relieving them from their usual course of life called ‘survival of fittest’. We, are the true animal lovers, we are the ones who care about them, not the animal rights activists, for they just want them poor animals to go and lead a life of misery, a life whose length ironically is longer as well.
So come all of you self proclaimed ‘righteous animal lovers’, join us, and let us all pledge to make sure every tasty animal gets what it deserves!
